In late April of this year, the Texas Sports Hall of Fame was awarded a substantial preservation grant from the Cooper Foundation in Waco. Thanks to the generous support of the Cooper Foundation, the Texas Sports Hall of Fame Collections Department has purchased several new museum-quality storage systems for the artifacts in our care including a specialized museum cabinet, archival flat files and standard filing cabinets.
This grant award also makes it possible for the Texas Sports Hall of Fame to purchase archival supplies including mylar sleeves, acid-free file folders, and acid-free boxes. The acquisition of these storage systems and archival supplies will allow the Collections Department to better preserve the museum’s photographic and paper objects. The Texas Sports Hall of Fame has the largest sports related research collection in the Southwest.
According to Collections Manager, Paige Davis, “The addition of these archival supplies and storage systems will allow us to better care for and eventually provide more public access to our collections.”
