The Texas Sports Hall of Fame is proud to announce a new partnership agreement with the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF). The partnership includes many joint marketing efforts as well as a new TAAF exhibit in the museum’s lobby. The exhibit tells the story of the TAAF, includes photos of the male and female athletes of the year and the 2011 inductees in the TAAF Hall of Fame (Barbara Fenlon, Larry Pressler, Butch Moore & Larry Shaw). The exhibit also features Olympic uniforms of Louise Ritter and Michael Carter. Both of these athletes are TAAF alumni who have also been inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. Steve Fallon, executive director of the museum says “We are very excited to be associated with the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation. Like the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, TAAF has a long history of promoting athletics in our great state. It’s a perfect fit.” The exhibit will open in conjunction with the Games of Texas statewide meet that is hosted by TAAF and will be held in Waco this year from July 28 - 31st. As part of the partnership the Texas Sports Hall of Fame is providing free admission to each participant in the Games of Texas. Museum curator Jay Black, “I hope that our new exhibit will help promote the TAAF’s Summer and Winter Games of Texas. City recreation departments across Texas do a great job providing kids with healthy, positive athletic experiences. It’s an opportunity that more people need to know about.”
