I have seen a lot of sports documentaries in my lifetime but never have I been so moved and enthralled as I was when I previewed this Dave Campbell Documentary. I was absolutely mesmerized for the entire 50 minutes of the video as I watched Dave Campbell offer (with near total recall), his rise from childhood to becoming one of the most beloved sports writers in Texas sports history. The historical footage included with this video is remarkable and is wonderfully woven into the feature produced by Larry Holze and Mark Randolph of the City of Waco’s local cable channel, WCC-10. The FREE viewing of the Dave Campbell Documentary takes place in the Texas Sports Hall of Fame’s Great Hall at 7:00 PM, Tuesday night September 13, 2011. Dave and his family will be in attendance and it will be Dave’s first time to see this outstanding video presentation. Long-time Baylor Play-by-Play announcer John Morris will act as Master of Ceremonies and special guests Denne Freeman (over 40 years as a sports writer for the AP-Texas Division) and David Smoak (one of the state’s top authorities of Texas high school sports) of local ESPN affiliate 1660 AM, will share a few moments with the audience of their love and respect for Dave Campbell. I do hope you will be able to attend the premier of the Dave Campbell Documentary at the TSHOF on Tuesday, September 13th. Again, the documentary starts at 7:00 PM and we anticipate concluding the evening no later than 8:15 PM. We will be selling DVD’s of the video at the museum following the showing and all proceeds will go into our museum’s endowment to preserve our Dave Campbell Sports Research Library in perpetuity. DVDs are $19.99 - Click here to order. John Morris is going to promote this premier event during the course of the Chamber Football Kickoff Luncheon next week, and David Smoak is going to promote it heavily on his radio talk show right up until the night of the premier show. So, we do anticipate a good sized crowd and the more the merrier. Be sure to bring a friend and forward thiSs email on to anyone you may think is interested. I hope to see you on September 13th! Sincerely, Steve Fallon
