​NEW CEO/PRESIDENT OF TEXAS SPORTS HALL OF FAME NAMED

​Waco - - Jared Mosley, Director of Athletics at Abilene Christian University for the past decade, has been named Chief Executive Officer and President of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame (TSHOF).

​“Jared Mosley has enjoyed tremendous success during his tenure at Abilene Christian University and is truly an exceptional leader and consensus builder,” said Tom Hill, Chairman of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame’s Board of Trustees. “We believe that he will build upon the Hall of Fame’s established tradition of excellence while leading this Texas treasure to new heights in future years as we continue to salute our state’s sporting icons.”


There are four separate halls of fame housed within the Texas Sports Hall of Fame’s physical structure-- the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame, Texas Tennis Hall of Fame, Southwest Conference Hall of Fame and Texas Sports Hall of Fame. In his role as TSHOF’s CEO and President, Mosley will be responsible for the fundraising, facilities oversight, promotions, public relations, event coordination and special projects.
 

“I am grateful to the Texas Sports Hall of Fame Board of Trustees and executive committee for their confidence in me, and I am honored to have the chance to work beside them in building the visibility and preserving the history associated with sports in the great state of Texas,” Mosley said.


“At the same time, it’s hard to say goodbye to so many great friends in Abilene, and to a community that has gone above and beyond in supporting our family,” he added. “ACU will always be ‘home’ for our family and our prayer is that God continues to show His favor and blessing on everyone associated with this great university.”


Mosley, just the seventh Athletic Director in ACU history, successfully guided his alma mater’s transition from NCAA Division II status to Division I and into the Southland Conference. During his tenure, the Wildcats won 10 NCAA Division II national championships, 20 NCAA Division II regional titles and 46 Lone Star Conference crowns. The program finished among the top 10 of the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings seven times in his 11-year tenure with five top four finishes.


As part of the move to Division I, Mosley negotiated a three-year deal with Adidas for the sports apparel company to be the official outfitter of ACU athletics. He was also the athletics department’s lead fund-raiser for the Vision in Action campaign, a $75 million initiative to build two new on-campus stadiums at ACU and three new science facilities.


In May 2008, Mosley won the All-American Football Foundation’s General Robert Neyland Award as the Athletics Director of the Year for the NCAA Southwest Region. He also served on the NCAA Division II Men’s National Tennis Committee and the National Association for Collegiate Directors of Athletics Executive Committee.


Marketing and increasing the visibility of ACU athletics were another focus during Mosley’s tenure. The Wildcats launched a new website (acusports.com) in August 2006 to capitalize on technology advancements and the opportunity to keep fans, alumni, donors and prospects more engaged through a more interactive Web experience. ACU now offers Web streaming of athletics contests, online camp/event registration, email subscription updates and merchandise sales.


Mosley is one of the most decorated basketball players to play for ACU. He finished his career in 1999 as the 11th-leading scorer and eighth-leading rebounder in school history, and in his senior season (1998-99) he led the Wildcats to the Division II South Central Region championship game.


He earned several honors during his senior season, including first team GTE Academic All-America, first team NCAA all-South Central Region by the NABC, second team all-region by Daktronics-CoSIDA, LSC South Division MVP and first team academic all-LSC. He also was awarded a $5,000 NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship.


Mosley, who graduated from ACU with a 3.88 GPA, was a three-time academic all-LSC pick, two-time all-LSC first team selection and all-tournament at the 1999 NCAA II region tournament.


“The community of Waco, the story that we get to tell and preserve, along with the physical proximity to Baylor University provide a foundation and product that is ready to see significant growth,” Mosley said. “I was very impressed with the passion and vision that the Board has for the Texas Sports Hall of Fame and know that the future is extremely promising thanks to the leadership already in place.


“Trish and I, and our kids are excited about this transition and look forward to getting plugged into the Waco community very soon.”


He and his wife, Trish, have two sons (Jaden and Jaxon) and a daughter (Blair). Mosley will begin his duties at the TSHOF, Sept. 1.
