Rayfield Wright 1945-2022
Wright played college football at Fort Valley State in Georgia and was selected by the Cowboys in the 7th round of the 1967 NFL Draft. He anchored a Cowboy offensive line that led the NFL (NFC after 1969 AFL merger) in total yards gained in 1968, 1969, 1971, 1974, 1975, 1977, 1978 & 1979. In 13 seasons with the Cowboys he was a member of 12 playoff teams and played in five Super Bowls. The Cowboys defeated Miami in Super Bowl VI (24-3) and Denver in Super Bowl XII (27-10). A leader on and off the field, Wright served as a team Co-Captain for seven years. He became the first offensive lineman inducted into the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor on October 10, 2004. He is a member of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2004.
