Cat Osterman - Softball pitcher Cat Osterman, a native of Houston and graduate of Cypress Springs HS, won 136 games for the Texas Longhorns and led her teams to three NCAA softball world series. One of the most accomplished athletes in softball history, Osterman broke virtually every University of Texas pitching record. She set NCAA records for strikeout ratio for season (15.42) & career (14.34). Osterman also ranks 5th all-time in NCAA in shutouts (28), 8th all-time in wins (136) & 2nd all-time in strikeouts (2,265). She was the first NCAA pitcher to break the 2,000 strikeout mark. A four-time Big 12 Pitcher of the Year she was also a member of Olympic teams in 2004 (gold medal) & 2008 (silver medal). Her impressive resume also includes 20 NCAA no-hitters and 10 perfect games. Osterman completed her eighth and final season in the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) League in 2015. She played for the Rockford Thunder in 2007 and 2009 and the USSSA Pride for six seasons. Osterman led the Thunder to the league championship in 2009, earning MVP of the championship series. The very next season, she led the Pride to the 2010 championship. The team split the championship in 2012 but captured the title once again in 2013 and 2014. Osterman was named to the All-NPF team six times and was named Diamond NPF Co-Pitcher of the Year in 2011 and NPF Pitcher of the Year in 2013 and 2014. In the final season of her professional career, Osterman went 15-4 for the Pride, the NPF’s regular season champions, with a 1.21 ERA and 183 strikeouts in 121.2 innings of work. In eight seasons in the NPF, Osterman captured four league titles. She was a student assistant at UT, and an assistant coach at DePaul University and St. Edward's University before joining the Texas State Bobcats as an assistant coach in 2015. Osterman is currently the Bobcats pitching coach. Osterman was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2012 and the World of Little League Hall of Excellence in 2016.
