
Frank Dickson
1928-2011
Frank Dickson passed away on Sunday night September 18th. He was inducted into the Texas High School Football HOF in 2005. Dickson graduated from Dawson High School where he participated in football, basketball and baseball. After graduating from Baylor University in 1949 with degrees in business and education, he accepted a coaching and teaching position at Prairie Hill High School. The next year, at age 22, he became the youngest superintendent in Texas. In 1953 he started the school’s first Six-Man football team. His first team lost only one game but missed the playoffs. His 1954 Owls won district and advanced to the Regional Championship game but lost to Elysian Fields. In 1955 Dickson began working for B&B Sporting Goods in Waco with O.L. Bradley and Howard Boice. He started as a road salesman and quickly moved up to vice-president. Dickson and Bud Guinn formed B&B Athletics in 1984. His son Doug joined him as a partner in 1994. Tim McGinty joined as a partner with the company in 2006. B&B currently works with over 250 high schools and colleges throughout Texas. His service to the community has led him to chair the Athletic Committee for the Chamber of Commerce and helped organize numerous other athletic leagues and projects in central Texas.
